BCE is a unique model in the Norwegian context of recruiting and educating entrepreneurs as well as establishing new businesses. Also the students who complete the training without establishing a company will have very valuable expertise in entrepreneurship and business operations, particularly in knowledge-based businesses.
The distinctive feature of the program is to provide students with thorough knowledge regarding theoretical aspects of business operations (protection of knowledge, law, economics and marketing) while simultaneous working with real business ideas derived from the scientific research environment at the University and it's surroundings. After finishing their studies, they therefore have formal qualifications in the form of a master's degree while many will have created their own workplace. In addition, this study based on a, for the university, a special collaboration with the business and industry.
Many students will focus on remaining with their projects as these develop into companies after the education. The experience of running their own company and the commercial potential in their projects, make this the unquestioned path for some. Some students will seek similar experiences in working with other small-to-medium-sized enterprises, where their understanding of managing and creating new ventures is invaluable. Finally, graduates will move towards management consultancy firms and established companies, where they can use their skills and hands-on experience of project work and entrepreneurial development to add great value to existing structures.
